Should users be given the ability to individually select which tracking providers they consent to?
ANSWER
Applicable law does not require that users be given the ability to individually select each data controller. Nevertheless, providing such functionality may give users greater control over their personal data.
The French supervisory authority (CNIL) states that, in all cases, users must be provided with a comprehensive list of data controllers that receive consent for the storage and reading of tracking technologies.
In practice, CNIL recommends that information about the identity of the data controllers be made available in a second layer of information, accessible via a link or button placed within the first layer of the information notice.
